There's this social media post some guy put up on Instagram. I almost scrolled past it, but I'm glad I didn't. It asked what question we should ask ourselves when we die. In retrospect, ChatGPT's response was basically pulling from Eastern philosophy, but, still, I couldn't stop thinking about it in the hours and days since I first heard it. Here's a partial transcript I cribbed using -- what else? -- AI. Some guy set up the prompt, which was long and convoluted. The following picks it up from there.  Some guy : I'm assuming most people would ask, 'Where am I going? What's next?' Something like that. For Those Wary of 'Unsubscribe'

I just stumbled upon a cool and easy-to-use tool on the Web to help determine if submitting your e-mail address to Unsubscribe from an e-newsletter actually generates more spam by selling the list of requests to third-parties. This, as most of you know, is a huge problem. I just fiddled with it and was sad to discover one of the abusers is a fitness newsletter I value. On the bright side, in addition to not planning to unsubscribe to it, my own company is "clean." Whew. Lashback's Unsubscribe Lookup works by entering the domain or IP address and then seeing if it's "good" (with no abuse incidents found) or worth avoiding (and listing just who they sold the lists to, I believe). Now if I can just track down the fools sending me all these fake stock faxes, it'll be a grand day.

Mahalo Mahalo, Maui

  "Aloha" might be the most recognizable Hawaiian term, but on Maui, "Mahalo" is a close second. It lacks linguistic flexibility, meaning just one thing: Thank you. However, it is quite pliable in conveying a desired tone.  Come enjoy authentic Hawaiian shave ice. Mahalo.   Yes, our lines are long. Please be patient. Mahalo.  The restaurant kitchen's closing early tonight. Mahalo.  Our $1.50 (each) kiwi fruit are better. Mahalo.  Do not move the mat concealing a heating element inside your unit's oven or you may destroy the appliance. Mahalo!
