Let's Revisit This Pee Thing
I was rather surprised at the universal acceptance of using someone's private portable toilet planted in their front yard if you really have to pee. I am apparently the only one that disagrees. No, I didn't use it and instead shuffled home, seeking shortcuts to keep my mind off my bulging bladder. I also admit that if it were 5 a.m. and desolate instead of prime time for commuters, I might have reconsidered. There was just too much traffic.I also was remembering a time several years ago when my friend Terri and I were running in Carlsbad. We both had to go and found a portable toilet in front of homes under construction. Terri went first and took awhile. As soon as I was locked in, I was almost truly locked in. Terri yelled that someone from the construction crew was coming and for me to hurry. The contractor apparently was carrying a lock and let us both know we were tresspassing on private property. He was more than mildly mad.
So, maybe now you can see why I couldn't risk another irate port-a-john renter. But knowing that any other runner would head in (pun intended) without reservation, next time I just might.
