Learn How to Eat

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that a fair number of you plan to eat better in 2010. If so, you might be interested in some tips from one of the leaders of the current Real Food Movement, Michael Pollan. He's got a new paperback to guide your gastronomic decisions.

Among my favorites of the one-page passages in Food Rules (culled from online reviews):

Be the kind of person who takes supplements, then skip the supplements.

Don't eat breakfast cereals that change the color of the milk.

The whiter the bread, the sooner you'll be dead.

It's not food if it arrived through the window of your car.

These are VERY powerful health food quotes that I have never heard before... the fast food one was hillarious...

No more fruitloops?
Don't eat breakfast cereals that change the color of the milk.

Say goodbye to wonder bread?
The whiter the bread, the sooner you'll be dead.

I have eaten healthy for awhile but ... I still occasionally miss it.

Thank you very much for sharing,
Tom Bailey

Fascinating topic - food and our views of it. I should give this an other Pollan books a read.

I love the rules, except maybe the supplement one. I'm conflicted on that one.

Great tips! I think I can actually remember those, too. :)

Thanks for the reminders. Guess I better toss out my CoCo Puffs. (ha ha)

totally the kind of book I would like, I'm getting it, thanks!

p.s. thanks for the comment on my blog about sub-30 but those weren't true splits (since I walked in between)

These quotes are great. I don't think I've eaten anything that arrived through my car window, turns milk colors, eaten white bread, or any of the other stuff in ages. The sadness of having food intolerances means that you're automatically looking for health each and every day. Sigh. Goodbye Sugar Smacks, I loved you when...

So wait a minute. What you're really saying with that cereal quote is I should be using chocolate milk....
