From Frumpy to Fashionista

I hurt my hip again so this morning I went to the gym to row and do some arms and abs work. I also decided to weigh myself. My clothes have been feeling a little looser so I had high hopes that the weigh-in would leave me feeling truly lighter. Instead, it showed that I now weigh more than ever before, even when I gave birth!

So I went home, showered and put on an outfit I'd gotten for Christmas from my very hip sister-in-law. The scarf still had the tags on it. The camisole and sweater fit much more snugly than my usual tops, maybe because of sizing but more likely because of my newfound proportions. In any event, I can't tell you how many people at work complimented me. Maybe I should show off my fat more often.

OK...now that we've met, (and you know this) you are nowhere near fat...

I'd blame the scale. I'm sure it was off...friends never lie.

I came here expecting pictures! And, what do you mean you hurt your hip again? How bad? Little bit, go to the gym so it doesn't get worse bad or won't be running for a while bad? Hope it's the first...

Anne, don't you know they rig those gym scales?! Hope the hip is fine and this is a tiny bump in the road.

Oh no! This is the infamous hip that you had problems with at the RNR marathon? Oh dear. I hope it gets better.

Curse the scale. Mine is telling lies too.

Hope your hip isn't too hurt Anne! I'm 4 lbs under my highest weight, so.. not that much. I combat the self-loathing by buying bigger clothes.

Fact - Muscle weighs more than fat.

Fact - Scales are evil.

Have you ever had your body comps done? If your insurance covers a DEXA scan (usually for bone density testing), they can give you ALL of your comps more accurately.

You are NOT fat!

What's with the hip? Again?

Hmm, did your weight change since you started to run again? My trainer told me that my body fat gain had to do with the longer distances I run now. And yes, I eat more now, too. The body tends to go in shock mode after a long run, so next time you take food to you it will hold on to it.

I tend to believe AKA Alice - and I've seen the pictures you've put on your blog - you are NOT FAT!

I'm sorry to hear about the hip - are you going to have a doctor check it out soon?

I say go with the "clothes fitting a little looser" feeling.

Damn hips. I know when mine hurt, and it still does off and on, I couldn't help but think of you.

Heal well.
