I get very attached to my possessions, so when we finally replaced a loveseat purchased shortly after we married, it was a big deal. The new furniture arrived yesterday and I decided to show it off on the day normally reserved for more stylistic photos.
I'm sprucing up the old couch for Goodwill. I hope this new piece, and the ultrasmooth wool rug we bought to match it, last for the next 20-plus years. They go nicely with the bookcases my father-in-law built in the 1950s and the solid marble coffee table that belonged to my grandparents, circa 1945. (See, I'm not kidding when I tell you I hold on to things for a long, long time.)

I'm like you - I still have my grandmother's dining room table, which we think she bought in 1953. :-)
It looks great, by the way. Very comfy!
I think it goes very nicely with your existing pieces!!!
Looks great! I'm glad someone else forms attachments too, I don't feel so alone.
i think it looks great and i love, love, love the bookshelves. you have almost as many books as me! :-)
Thanks for inviting me into your living room : )
Love all the books you have and the wonderful bookshelf.
Louise says...What do you mean "stylistic photo's" This photo alone is stylistic...right up there in the pages of Ethan Allen if you ask me.
I do the same thing and probably would have more old things if they didn't actually wear out from use by 4 kids. I love old furniture!
My first thought at seeing the photo was, ooohhh look at her chock-filled bookshelves!!
New sofa looks properly cozy...
I love the old stuff. They just don't make things like the used to. I have my grandpa's chair in my bedroom, and my grandma's dinning room table.
Very posh indeed.
If you're hanging onto stuff like that for a long time, that means there's something to be said about quality. Everything works so well together, new and "loved." (Loved, not old!)
Nothing wrong with that. And this coming from a gal still driving the same diesel truck (now with 478K+ miles on it) she's had since 1990.
Nice tile floor.
Our choice for some recent improvement...
Pretty. The shelves are beautiful. Really, it looks like something out of a magazine!
It all looks so good together, I love the bookshelves!
Love the book shelves! the couch is nice too.
Ohhh, it's lovely. All of it.
Very classy. And Anne, it's always good to have words from you - even on wordless Wednesday.
