Have you ever found yourself on a Friday baking sheet cakes to go with the 150 homemade brownies (a few MIA, you just noticed), 75 mini muffins, granola, oranges, peanuts, pretzels, tortilla strips, Dum Dums and Red Vines – what I forget? I know there’s something -- while you’re having the carpets in the house professionally cleaned and hoping no one from work calls and asks, “What the hell is that noise?!” because you might just loose it, not because you’re getting tired of all this cooking (the beneficiaries being hundreds of ravenous marathoners-in-training doing 20 miles on Saturday morning) but because your heart’s aching knowing your college kid, who’s injured no less, is performing tonight and tomorrow in her final dance show 650 miles away and you won’t be there, for the first time since she started performing at age 3, and not only that, but you strongly suspect the missing muffin batter hidden in your belly is about to make a sudden reappearance, or maybe it’s because you just threatened to quit your job and then got another IRS nastygram and slew of bills in the mail?
Well, I have and I don't recommend it.

Ohhh FUDGE what a day! Let me know if I can help (help eat that is...)
Mmmm yeah. I'm guessing the house smells really good right about now!
Oh Anne! I hope they record your daughter's performances so you can experience them after the fact.
Just remember how thankful all of the marathon trainees will be tomorrow for all of your hard work.
I like your new blog home :) And to answer your question, no, i've never found myself on a friday backing sheet cakes let alone with brownies and everything but the kitchen sink like you are doing!! mmm red vines

oh crap.
well at least you're surrounded by baked goods :)
You are buried in a lot right now...wishing your daughter the best of luck in her show, it must be hard not to be there.
GL to you, too, with all the baking and work stuff...
I like the new look:-)
Love the new look of your blog! And I too hope your daughter's performance got recorded - thank god for technology. Threatened to quit your job?! Sounds interesting! I recommend quitting and doing new things every once in a while. Shakes things up.
Oh, I will be moving to Los Angeles. A quick trip to SD!
Take two more muffins and call me in the morning ...
Hopefully you will get a play by play from your daughter about her performance...
A new day will be a brighter day.
I'm sure all those runners out there will appreciate all your hard work..
Oh, hang in there. I am sure that your daughter will do well. I'd love to be there too. It sounds great. I hate missing my kids events too.calvo4
Oh Anne, that is hilarious! (Seeing as it ain't me!)
