Season Finale

Night's nipping at the edges of the day again. Our favorite summer TV show's top dancer is announced tonight, leaving a void in our weeknight family routine. And, most importantly, the nest again is less crowded now that The College Kid is enroute to Sonoma State to start her sophomore year.

Excuse me while I deal with some serious separation anxiety.

The separation anxiety is the destiny of the parents, our destiny. I remember the day when my son left to spend one year in the Navy.....and I know very well how the life is in the barracks.

The middle kid had senior pictures today.... I have anxiety already and she won't leave for a year. I better get some serious hobbies.

The separation anxiety is from the kid, right? Not the TV show? I'm just clarifying, because I've become really attached to some TV shows in the past.

My wife and kids have separation anxiety when I am in school and I don't even leave the house.

separation anxiety is good and healthy - it's the natural order of things. Just think how well you have prepared her for life out in the big world and smile to yourself.

It does leave a big gap, doesn't it? Everything changes at home - there's foods I don't buy anymore because he's not here, the house is quieter, the activity level is lower, no more beautiful piano music, no more long philisophical conversations...yet all those things are still happening with the one still here, and I think we've become closer now that big brother is out of the daily picture. Funny.
